Within the labeling industry there are several ways to place barcodes on a product. One possibility is to apply the barcode using a label. The barcode is printed on the label and then attached to the item. This can be done both manually and automatically. Another option would be direct printing on the product packaging (TTO).
Regardless of the method, the function of the barcode is the same: conveying and passing on information. Barcodes have the advantage that they can be individually adapted to the content. For example, best-before dates can be individually applied to the packaging.
